14 years at number one

Canon's interchangeable-lens digital cameras (digital SLR and compact-system cameras) have maintained the No. 1 share of the global market for 14 consecutive years from 2003 to 2016 (based on a Canon survey).

Digital Photo Professional v.4.6.10

Digital Photo Professional version 4.6.10 adds support for the EOS 77D, 800D and M6, plus the EF-S 18-55mm f4-5.6 IS STM.

The update is compatible with Windows 7 (with Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5 installed, 8, 8.1 and 10, Mac OS 10.10, 10.11 and 10.12

Canon clothing and accessories

Canon UK is launching a range of branded clothing and accessories - from vintage camera t-shirts to umbrellas and bibs
A selection of the new merchandise has been designed to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the EOS system and features cameras from the EOS archive. Plus, the vintage series includes designs from the original Canon camera “Kwanon” logo, first introduced in 1934.
The new collection includes clothing such as t-shirts, jackets, sweaters and hoodies, as well as accessories like umbrellas, baby bibs, hats and limited edition camera bags.  Camera fans will also be able to get their hands on a miniature Hansa Canon camera model, replicated on Canon’s first production model and Japan’s first high-quality 35mm camera launched in 1936.

EOS system celebrates 30th anniversary

Today, Canon is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the launch of its world-renowned EOS System.

Canon’s EOS System made its debut on 1 March 1987 with the launch of the EOS 650 SLR camera and EF lenses, at a time when visiting your local pharmacy to develop your camera film was the norm.

Thirty years on the world has changed, but the EOS system remains a staple in the world of photography. Technology featured within the EOS system has helped create and inspire changes in the way people take photos.

The EOS system came to life in 1987 after Canon announced its aim to develop a highly-refined autofocus (AF) SLR model. It moved away from its FD lens system to create the world’s first fully electronic mount system. From then the EOS range has included the first affordable consumer DSLR – the EOS 300D – which ushered in a new era of digital photography in 2003. Five years later in 2008, the EOS 5D Mark II revolutionised filmmaking by offering Full HD movie recording on a DSLR.
