Canon wins five honours at the 2016 TIPA Awards

Canon has been awarded five accolades by the Technical Image Press Association (TIPA) – one of the world’s leading photo imaging and press associations. Each year, the TIPA Awards recognise the best imaging products launched in the previous 12 months. In 2016, Canon has once again been commended for the technical innovations across its diverse product portfolio, from entry level consumer compact cameras, through to professional DSLRs and photo printers.

The following awards have been granted:
·         Best DSLR Professional/High Res: EOS 5DS / EOS 5DS R
·         Best Photo/Video Professional Camera: EOS-1D X Mark II
·         Best Easy Compact Camera: IXUS 285 HS
·         Best Expert Compact Camera: PowerShot G5 X
·         Best Photo Printer: imagePROGRAF PRO-1000

The TIPA panel consists of editors from 27 of the world’s leading photography and imaging magazines: members span 15 countries across five continents. The panel meets annually to discuss the latest imaging products, and considers a range of factors, from innovation to design and overall product quality, in order to select and acknowledge the very best products and technologies.

Firmware updates for EOS-1D X Mark III, R3, R5, R6 Mark II and R8

Firmware updates have been introduced for five Canon EOS cameras.  EOS-1D X Mark III: firmware version 1.8.0 1. Adds the ability to register the focus position in the preset functions of the CR-A100 Camera Remote Application. When used with the Robotic Camera System CR-S700R, it helps the user to focus on the intended subject distance when shooting. 2. EOS R3 and R5 firmware sets new standards

Canon Europe today announces firmware updates for the EOS R3 and EOS R5 in response to feedback and requests from users. For the EOS R3, firmware version 1.4.0 means capturing fast-moving subjects is easier than ever before with Panning Assist, while firmware v1.8.1 for the EOS R5 offers enhanced resolution. Canon also announces new features coming to its Mobile File Transfer app, making it even more user-friendly and adaptable to workflows. With the Panning Assist function, image stabilisation and subject blur correction can be applied during exposure. This improves the number of successful panning shots a photographer can capture, while using shutter speeds up to two stops slower than previously possible, with the ability to retain sharp details.
