EOS 5DS and 5DS R offer 50.6 megapixel resolution

Canon is transforming the EOS system with the arrival of the EOS 5DS and the EOS 5DS R – a new breed of ultra-high resolution full-frame DSLRs. Breaking the boundaries of 35mm sensors, the new cameras offer the highest megapixels ever seen in a full-frame sensor, an astonishing 50.6 MP.

When nothing but the sharpest image is required, the EOS 5DS R also features a low-pass cancellation filter to maximise the sensor’s resolution and visible image quality.

Establishing new standards for full-frame DSLRs

The new cameras provide the flexibility to shoot a wide range of scenes and subjects, making them ideal for large format mediums, such as advertising billboards and magazine covers, where every pixel matters. The sensor’s advanced architecture provides ISO 100-6400 sensitivity, expandable to 50-12800, ensuring high quality images with low noise, accurate colours and wide dynamic range.

For added flexibility, the resolution enables three in-camera crop shooting modes – 1.3x, 1.6x and 1:1. Visible through the viewfinder, the crop modes deliver outstanding results, with stills at 19 megapixels even when cropped to 1.6x.

Dual DIGIC 6 processors provide the rapid performance and responsiveness. Both processors are designed to manage huge levels of image data from the 50.6 MP sensor, whilst simultaneously reducing image noise and providing the freedom to shoot at five frames per second.

Exceptional autofocusing and image tracking
The EOS 5DS and EOS 5DS R feature an advanced 61-point AF system, with 41 cross-type points, delivering image sharpness and accuracy across the frame. Both cameras comfortably maintain focus with moving subjects, using EOS Intelligent Tracking and Recognition AF (iTR) to track both faces and colour.

To reduce image blur, a Mirror Vibration Control System uses cams to drive the reflex mirror up and down in a highly controlled fashion, avoiding sudden stops and softening the shutter-release sound.

Additionally, a 150k pixel RGB+IR metering sensor with Flicker Detection ensures images can be captured with consistent and accurate exposures under varying lighting scenarios, including florescent.

Incredible detail and unrestricted creativity

The EOS 5DS and 5DS R include a number of customisable modes and settings. A new Fine Detail Picture Style maximises the level of detail that can be achieved from the sensor, enabling advanced sharpness adjustment without the need for editing software.

Popular creative modes, including Multiple Exposure and HDR, provide instant, in-camera creativity, while a built-in timer allows you to shoot over long periods and create time lapse videos without being tied to the camera or needing advanced software or additional kit.

Professional construction, customisable features

The EOS 5DS and  5DS R have been constructed to allow you to operate quickly, regardless of the environment. The 100% viewfinder with electronic overlay makes framing vital shots easy and can be customised to your preferred style. The large, 8.11cm (3.2 inch) Clear View II LCD screen, with an anti-reflective structure, minimises reflection or glare when reviewing shots and also acts as a visual and accessible dashboard of the most commonly used settings. A new Custom Quick Control screen means that the type, size and position of icons are also easily customisable to the user or shooting scenario.

Both cameras utilise Canon’s iconic design DNA – a highly durable body constructed from high-grade magnesium alloy to provide weather resilient shooting – ideal for landscape photographers who are dedicated to getting the perfect shot, whatever the weather.

EOS 5DS R: Engineered for the ultimate in DSLR image quality

The EOS 5DS R features a low-pass cancellation filter to ensure the sharpest possible results. Great for landscape photographers, where patterns are organic, the camera’s low-pass cancellation filter produces a stunning level of detail.

Two new entry level cameras: EOS 750D and 760D

Canon has announced two new cameras in its entry-level EOS line-up. The EOS 750D is ideal if you are looking to capture images and Full HD movies with the assurance of automatic shooting modes. The EOS 760D gives enthusiast photographers more creative freedom and manual controls.

Both cameras use a powerful new 24.2MP sensor and Canon’s DIGIC 6 image processor. The ISO 100-12,800 range delivers detailed results even in low light. In addition, Flicker Detection technology, first found in the EOS 7D Mark II, provides consistently exposed images under artificial light for even greater flexibility.

Continuous shooting of 5 frames per second, together with a powerful 19 cross-type AF point system, help to capture fast-moving subjects.

Capture your world in movies

You can shoot movies in Full HD resolution and in MP4 format for easy online sharing. Advanced Hybrid CMOS AF III provides the ability to track or swap focus, while compatibility with STM lenses provides silent, smooth focusing for accuracy and speed.

The EOS 760D also gives videographers additional creative movie modes. Shoot atmospheric movies with detail in both the shadows and highlights with HDR movie mode, or instantly create the effect of professional tilt-and-shift lenses with Miniature Effect.

Control and creativity at your fingertips

The EOS 760D and EOS 750D have compact bodies with an ergonomic grip and Vari-Angle LCD for easy handling in all situations. Take over the shooting functions with full manual control for the freedom to develop your own creative shooting style. The EOS 760D allows photographers to be more considered with their settings with conveniently placed controls, usually found in Canon’s enthusiast EOS models, including the rear Quick Control Dial, top LCD panel and Intelligent Viewfinder for quick access and review of both settings and images.

Both cameras offer a range of easy-to-use, one-touch shooting modes and creative filters.

EOS M3 - the power of EOS, only smaller

Canon has announced the EOS M3 – a powerful Compact System Camera (CSC). At the heart of the camera is Canon’s first 24.2 megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor and its most advanced image processor, DIGIC 6, delivering premium quality stills and Full HD Movies.

The sensor’s 100-12,800 ISO range provides low-noise shots in challenging light situations.

The 49-point AF system and innovative new Hybrid CMOS AF III technology deliver fast focusing (up to 6.1x faster than the original EOS M).

Putting you in control – iconic EOS design and controls

The EOS M3 incorporates the EOS design DNA and is instantly comfortable in the palm of your hand thanks to the fluid design grip. Direct access to a range of controls, including an exposure compensation dial, main control dial and customisable buttons, let you adjust the camera’s settings to suit your shooting style.

For framing versatility, the large 7.5cm (3 inch) LCD touch-screen tilts up 180 degrees and down 45 degrees to help you shoot from all angles, while also making multi-touch gestures a finger tap away. The screen also gives you access to Canon’s intuitive touch menu system found on EOS DSLRs.

The EOS M3 offers customisable controls, a hot-shoe for Speedlite flash guns and optional tilt-type electronic viewfinder. Compatibility with EF-M lenses, including a choice of pancake and zoom lenses, means you can shoot any situation.

With Creative Assist, the EOS M3 can be controlled from the touch screen interface and the effects previewed in real time as you shoot. Settings such as brightness, background blur, vividness of colour, contrast, warmth and filter effects can be altered, and combinations can be saved to be called upon again when you need them.

Movie makers can shoot in Full HD quality, with a choice of 24p, 25p and 30p frame rates and MP4, for easy sharing.  Advanced Hybrid CMOS AF III provides continuous autofocus. For more experienced shooters, Touch AF gives you the flexibility to select AF points on the LCD, even with moving subjects, and create professional-looking pull focus effects. For full control, Manual Movie puts you in the director’s seat, with complete aperture, shutter and ISO control.

Power to control and share

Ideal for shooting in unusual situations and positions for unique perspectives, remote shooting via the new Camera Connect app lets you control the camera’s key functions.

Dynamic NFC enables single touch image transfers to smart devices while the auto-sync functionality means you can upload all your images to Canon’s cloud storage service, irista, for instant back-up.
